Job summary

The Nevada Office of Emergency Management (NV OEM) seeks a Public Information Officer who blends strategic emergency communications with professional visual design to inform government officials, media partners, and the public before, during, and after emergencies and disasters.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, public/ community relations, communications, or related field.
  • Two years of professional experience in public relations or public information.
  • Experience in creatively designing government products and web design.
  • Familiarity with branding guidelines and ensuring messaging consistency.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and revise materials based on stakeholder feedback.
  • Coordinate and conduct photo and video shoots; produce multimedia content.
  • Schedule and analyze social media messaging; manage public outreach campaigns.
  • Update WebEOC and other information-sharing platforms; ensure accurate messaging during responses.
  • Develop outreach strategies aligned with NV OEM messaging standards.
