Job summary

Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services seeks an OPS Public Information Specialist II to develop and communicate division information, write and edit materials, and coordinate outreach for the Division of Animal Industry. The role supports internal and external stakeholders with accurate, accessible public information.

Qualifications

• High school degree plus 8 years of relevant experience in news reporting, editing, public relations, public information, advertising, marketing, mass communications or journalism.
• Bachelor's degree (4 years) and four (4) years of related experience. Master’s degree can substitute for one year of required experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and communicating division information and publications for internal and external stakeholders.
• Research, write, and edit information and materials about division programs for distribution to stakeholders.
• Prepare and disseminate animal disease information for multi-media programs and deliver informational speeches and exhibits.
• Coordinate video production, including scriptwriting and planning, with Marketing and Department Communications.
• Coordinate outreach activities and proofread materials for accuracy.
• Serve on the division Incident Management Team as PIO during activations and possible travel.
• Maintain division website updates and annual audits in coordination with WebServices.
