Job summary

City of Odessa, Texas seeks a communications leader to plan, coordinate, and direct the Citys communications, marketing and branding, with emphasis on public safety.

You will manage internal and external communications, coordinate responses to information requests, and serve as City Spokesperson and Emergency Public Information Coordinator. On-call expectations apply and a valid Texas driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level equivalent education not required if experience is strong; Associate degree required with 5 years in journalism/communications/public relations.
• Experience in journalism, communications and public relations is required; public sector experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and direct communications, marketing, and branding for City services.
• Oversee media relations, publications, and public information requests.
• Act as City Spokesperson and Emergency Public Information Coordinator during emergencies.
• Develop and maintain newsletters and city communications.
• Maintain confidentiality and ensure timely attendance and responsiveness.
