Under general direction, plans, organizes, reviews, implements, and evaluates a comprehensive communications, marketing, and community relations program for the District; identifies and utilizes appropriate methods for reaching the District’s varied constituents including traditional media, social media, and outreach to community leaders, public officials, service groups, employees, and residents; represents the District in media and community relations appearances; coordinates and executes public information programs to raise awareness and provide education about vector control and vector-related public health concerns; provides professional assistance to the Communications Manager, General Manager, and other management and District staff in areas of expertise; and performs other duties as assigned.
Receives general direction from the Communications Manager. Exercises technical and functional direction over and provides training to assigned staff.
This journey-level classification is responsible for planning, organizing, reviewing, and evaluating the operations and activities of the District’s communications, marketing, and community relations programs. Incumbents perform diverse, specialized, and complex work involving significant accountability and decision-making responsibilities, which include program evaluations and recommendations and implementation of policies, procedures, goals, objectives, priorities, and standards related to the District’s public information program.

Equivalent to an associate degree in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field, and four (4) years of experience in public relations, communications, or a related field.
Possession of a valid California Driver’s License and certification in Public Health Vector Control Categories “A” and “B” within 12 months of appointment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment. This is primarily a sedentary office classification although standing and walking may be required. Must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 25 pounds.
