Job summary

The Prince William County Department of Parks and Recreation’s Office of Historic Preservation is seeking a part-time Historic Preservation Specialist to bring local history to life. You will lead tours of County-owned sites, develop history programs, and conduct research to support interpretation.

Work with volunteers and school groups, engaging diverse audiences and collaborating within a small, energetic team focused on innovative programming and educational experiences.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of related experience.
• Experience in public history programs or tours preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead tours of historic sites and develop history programs.
• Engage diverse audiences including schools and the public.
• Collaborate with volunteers to support interpretive mission.
• Deliver special events and public history programs.
• Maintain logs and reports; assist with cash handling procedures.
• Ensure visitor safety and quality experiences during programs.
