Job summary
NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene seeks a Public Health Consultant to lead engineering and science staff focused on building water systems, water safety, and public health outcomes in the built environment. You will guide cross-disciplinary teams to prevent waterborne diseases and strengthen hazard identification.
With significant latitude in decision-making, you will shape program strategies, review engineering plans, and mentor staff in inspections, plan review, and maintenance
Qualifications
- Ten years of full-time experience in engineering consulting or supervisory roles with multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience with government agencies, regulatory programs, or public health initiatives.
- Experience reviewing and approving engineering plans and technical specifications.
Responsibilities
- Supervise engineering and scientist staff providing technical expertise on building water systems.
- Identify and troubleshoot factors contributing to waterborne disease risks.
- Review and interpret blueprints, engineering plans and technical specifications.
- Research and evaluate regulations and industry standards affecting waterborne disease prevention.
- Provide leadership and mentoring in plan review, construction inspections, and operations and maintenance assessments.
- Develop and maintain SOPs, quality checklists, and scopes of work for technical services and contracts.
