Florida Department of Health in Polk County is seeking an Environmental Specialist I to support drinking water and environmental health inspections in Bartow, Florida. The role requires knowledge of water chemistry and microbiology, data interpretation, and strong communication skills to coordinate with owners and operators.

Emergency duty may be required; the position emphasizes integrity, collaboration, and service to the community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or preferred as stated.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of water chemistry and microbiology
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data interpretation
• Ability to maintain detailed records and follow regulatory procedures
• Experience with governmental inspection procedures is a plus

Responsabilités

• Review Bacteriological Reports for Public Water System Program and input data into databases.
• Review Monthly Operational Reports, scan into OCULUS, and monitor compliance; issue noncompliance letters as needed.
• Monitor line breaks, boil water notices, and water quality parameters; assist in technical coordination with owners/operators.
• Back up Drinking Water Program inspections to ensure regulatory compliance and proper record-keeping.
• Perform other Environmental program duties as assigned by the supervisor.
