Job summary

ERP International is seeking a Public Health Technician to support the Keesler Medical Group at Keesler AFB, MS. This full-time role conducts epidemiological investigations, health education, and disease prevention measures while coordinating with clinics and deployment teams.

Responsibilities include sanitation inspections, vectorborne disease prevention, occupational health assessments, and maintaining patient encounters in an electronic medical record system.

Qualifications

  • Education: An Associate Degree in nursing or related public health program or military training.
  • Experience: 2+ years in medical/public health or 4+ years of military public health experience.
  • Licensure: N/A.
  • Life Support: BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Security: Able to pass a Government background check.

Responsibilities

  • Performs epidemiological investigations, patient interviews, and health education; supports rabies and disease prevention activities.
  • Conducts food inspections and collects samples for lab analysis; maintains inspection records.
  • Performs sanitation evaluations and reports sanitary discrepancies.
  • Assesses vectorborne disease risk and educates base populations on prevention.
  • Conducts occupational health assessments and deployment-related health actions.
  • Executes Preventive Health Assessments and coordinates patient visits as needed.

Job description

ERP International is seeking a Public Health Technician for a full-time position supporting the Keesler Medical Group at Keesler AFB, MS.

Responsibilities
Work Schedule

Duty Hours: Routine work schedules will range between 6am-6pm, Monday through Friday with an allotted 60-minute unpaid lunch break

Duties may include but are not limited to:
  • Performs epidemiological investigations, patient interviews and health education/control measures. Monitors rabies control program. Assists with investigations of disease outbreaks. Collects and compiles epidemiological data.
  • Conducts food inspections IAW the regulatory requirements. Collects and ships food for laboratory analysis. Evaluates and completes inspection records.
  • Conducts sanitation evaluations. Determines compliance with sanitary standards and reports discrepancies.
  • Assists with evaluating risk of vectorborne disease transmission. Collects and identifies vector species. Educates forces and base populations on prevention and control of vectorborne diseases.
  • Performs occupational health assessment and/or occupational illness investigations; conducts duty location surveys to identify health concerns; recommends corrective actions with program training and tracking of members.
  • Performs Preventive Health Assessments (PHA). Reviews fitness assessment surveys, retrieves required information from patient medical record reviews and/or schedules patient visit to obtain required information. Determines if patients need to be examined by a credentialed provider.
Additional duties may include:
  • Collects and compiles epidemiological data.
  • Performs deployment medical clearance using force health protection and other area of responsibility requirements.
  • Validates medical readiness requirements, pre-deployment health assessments, and ensures deployment specific immunizations and chemoprophylaxis are given.
  • Coordinates with other clinics and/or unit deployment managers to resolve discrepancies.
  • Delivers preventive health education and medical health threat briefings.
  • Attends safety huddles and reports on any foreseen patient safety issues.
  • Attends other relevant meetings when needed and public health required trainings.
  • Completes any patient encounters using electronic medical record system. Monitors, tracks, and reports any open encounters.
  • Manages front desk requirements and other in-person, phone, virtual, and messaging inquiries.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

*** Education:** An Associate Degree in nursing or other related educational program such as allied, community health, or public health OR prior military training

*** Experience:** Personnel must have at least two years' experience in a related Medical/public/community health/nursing position OR four (4) years of prior military experience in a public health position.

*** Licensure:** N/A

*** Life Support Certification:** Possess and maintain a current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider certification

*** Security:** Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.
