Job summary

State of Vermont Department of Health is seeking a Public Health Nutritionist II to provide nutrition counseling and breastfeeding support to WIC participants in Vermont. The role emphasizes equity-centered public health nutrition and strong family relationships.

You will work with pregnant and postpartum individuals, infants and young children, applying Motivational Interviewing and culturally responsive approaches to promote healthy growth and feeding practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher degree in nutrition, nutritional sciences, community nutrition, clinical nutrition, dietetics, or public health nutrition.
• Experience with Motivational Interviewing and culturally responsive care is highly desirable.
• Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide participant-centered nutrition assessment, counseling, and breastfeeding support.
• Develop individualized care and follow-up plans for nutritionally high-risk participants.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers, community organizations, and maternal-child health partners.
• Participate in community outreach and health education efforts.
• Contribute to outcomes-based planning and evaluation through WIC's Nutrition Services Plan.
• Support quality improvement efforts to strengthen WIC services for Vermont families.
