Vermont Department of Health is seeking a Public Health Nutritionist II to provide nutrition counseling and breastfeeding support to WIC participants in Brattleboro and surrounding Windham County. The role emphasizes motivational interviewing, culturally competent care, and collaboration with maternal and child health teams.

The position offers a hybrid in-office/telework schedule and opportunities to lead education activities, community outreach, and quality improvement projects while advancing

Qualifications

• Master's degree in nutrition, nutritional sciences, community nutrition, clinical nutrition, dietetics, or public health nutrition.
• Bachelor's degree in nutrition, nutritional sciences, community nutrition, clinical nutrition, dietetics, or public health nutrition AND two (2) years or more of experience in public health nutrition or community health nutrition.

Responsibilities

• Provide nutrition counseling and breastfeeding support to WIC clients.
• Use motivational interviewing in in-person and virtual appointments.
• Develop follow-up plans for high-risk clients.
• Lead community outreach and education on maternal and child health.
• Support continuous improvement projects and evaluation of interventions.
