Job summary

The Public Health Nurse (PHN) position with the Anchorage Health Department provides population-based nursing services addressing community needs including immunizations, STI screening, reproductive health, and obesity prevention.

The PHN collaborates with individuals, communities, and organizations to improve health outcomes and participates in emergency readiness activities with the Department and state partners. Remote work may be considered after probation.

Qualifications

• Must be a licensed Registered Nurse with current Alaska licensure or eligibility.
• Experience in public health or community health care is preferred.
• Background check and HIPAA certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide population-based public health nursing services including immunizations, disease control, epidemiological investigations, and health education.
• Partner with individuals, communities and organizations to improve health outcomes addressing STI screening, family planning, and obesity prevention.
• Engage in emergency response activities as part of the Health Department's Crisis Health Action Team and EOC.
