Job summary

The State of Alaska is seeking a Public Health Nurse 1/2 Flex in Kodiak, AK. This flexible role supports preventive care, disease monitoring, and community health improvements under senior PHN guidance.

Open to all applicants; the position may start at PHN 1 or work independently as PHN 2, with potential advancement to PHN 3. Requirements include RN licensure in Alaska and enrollment in an RN-to-BSN bridge program; conditional offers may be possible.

Qualifications

• Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Alaska.
• Active enrollment or acceptance into an RN-to-BSN bridge program in an accredited college or university.
• Conditional job offer possible for candidates not yet licensed, with licensure required prior to appointment.
• Continued employment contingent on enrollment and progress in RN-to-BSN within 24 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide preventive care, disease monitoring, and health improvement in the Kodiak community.
• Deliver comprehensive public health services at the Kodiak Public Health Center.
• Collaborate with community partners and health teams to support patient care and population health.
• Adapt to flex staffing levels transitioning from PHN 1 to PHN 2 under supervision.
