Job Summary
Under general supervision, is responsible for providing nursing care and related nursing services under the direction of a Public Health Physician and senior level professional nursing staff. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment with occasional exposure to hazardous materials, bodily fluids and frequent exposure to infectious diseases. Exercises functional supervision over assigned staff.
The San Antonio Metro Health District (SAMHD) provides public health services to clients, which may include risk for exposure to and possible transmission of vaccine-preventable diseases. Employees in high-risk positions will be required to obtain relevant immunizations, per Review and consideration will be given to requests for exemption from this policy.

Work Location
This position requires regular work at a minimum of two locations : City Tower - 100 W. Houston Street, 14th Floor, San Antonio, TX (78205) and Metro Health STI / HIV Clinic - 512 E. Highland Blvd, San Antonio, TX (78210) with the potential for assignments at additional sites based on business needs. Job duties may require travel to various locations in San Antonio and Bexar County.
Work Hours
8 : 00 a.m. - 5 : 00 p.m., Monday - Friday. Occasional work outside of regular hours to include before 8 : 00 a.m., between 12 : 00 p.m. - 1 : 00 p.m., evenings and weekends based on client needs.

Knowledge of modern medical office procedures and practices.
Skill in utilizing a personal computer and associated software programs.
Ability to operate a computer keyboard and other basic office equipment.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
Ability to compile data and prepare routine reports.
Ability to exercise judgment in application of nursing care.

Ability to grasp and apply the basic principles of administration and operation of a health program.
