Job summary

Marion County Public Health Department seeks a registered nurse to deliver comprehensive public health services, focusing on vulnerable populations including refugees and immigrants. Responsibilities include vaccination administration, care planning, and collaboration with ISDH and partner agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing from a NLN accredited college/program with emphasis on epidemiology, infectious diseases, microbiology, statistics, or related courses.
• 2 or more years of previous nursing experience, including at least one year of hospital practice is preferred
• Computer skills including typing skills of a minimum of 30 words per minute
• Experience in creating and generating data sets and reports for epidemiological use preferred
• Experience working with refugee and immigrant population preferred
• Experience working in TB or infectious disease clinic preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide care coordination, case management, referral, and follow-up care to individuals and families who are members of a vulnerable population and/or high-risk groups.
• Collaborate with MCPHD departments, ISDH, and other community agencies to provide necessary services
• Perform diagnostic procedures, treatments, and administer injections, vaccines and medications per physician orders and MCPHD protocols
• Adhere to OSHA standards and safety procedures
• Document patient assessment and intervention data in medical records
• Facilitate TB clinics and inventory management and scheduling
• Travel within Marion County to community sites as needed
• Plan and participate in ongoing professional development in nursing and epidemiology
