JOB SUMMARY

Provide experienced nursing services teaching, evaluating needs, administering care and accurately charting family planning, STDs, immunizations for adults and children, and Well Woman.

  • Assess and evaluate birth control needs of client with consideration of physiological, psychological, social, and environmental factors.
  • Mandatory reporting of sexual and physical abuse per protocol and nursing guidelines.
  • Provide accurate information for smoking cessation, overall healthcare, nutrition, and pre-natal education.
  • Teach based on Arizona Family Health Partnership guidelines.
  • Distribute and administer birth control method as prescribed and conduct quarterly family planning clinic audits.
  • Collect potentially infectious specimens and maintain safety precautions.
  • Provide teaching and comfort to initial HIV positive clients and prepare for results from state.
  • Order, maintain, store, and administer appropriate vaccines for adults and children from appropriate private and public lots.
  • Teach per guidelines from CDC, ADHS, and VFC programs.
  • Perform monthly clinic audits.
  • Work with case managers to follow proper protocols to maintain grant status.
  • Maintain supplies and anticipate needs of clinic for seasonal requirements of the community.
  • Assure sterile equipment and maintain quality standards.
  • Translate (bi-lingual) information for co-workers on as needed basis.
  • Maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records, and restricted County information.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with a valid unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse issued by the Arizona State Board of Nursing.
  • Current license to practice nursing in the State of Arizona.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of professional nursing experience, preferably in public health programs.
  • Valid Arizona State Driver's License
  • Knowledge of policies, guidelines, and standards of the Arizona State Board of Nursing and Nurse Practice Act.
  • Knowledge of applicable Arizona Revised Statutes and County Ordinances regarding public health.
  • Knowledge of Federal and state public health program regulations and requirements including Arizona Department of Health Services and Federal Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines, procedures, and standards.
  • Knowledge of regional public health protocols, communicable disease issues, and reporting standards.
  • Knowledge of regional community service agencies and other public assistance programs.
  • Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing standard and specialized software, including Arizona State Immunization Information System (ASIIS).
  • Ability to provide effective nursing services and proper use of medical instruments and laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to assess community needs and identify public health issues and trends.
  • Ability to use courtesy and respect in providing nursing services and responding appropriately to emergency situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is light and requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. The work also requires the ability to balance, finger, feel, grasp, handle, reach, perform repetitive motion, kneel, lift, pull, push, speak, hear, stand, stoop, walk, operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment, and demonstrate visual and mental acuity.

Work is performed in a safe and secure work environment that may periodically have unpredicted requirements or demands.

The hiring salary for this position is dependent upon experience, qualifications and position funding; starting salaries above the midpoint require additional approval.
