Qualifications

• Possession of a valid California NP license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
• Possession of a current medication furnishing license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
• Possession of national board certification, or eligibility, as a Nurse Practitioner issued by one of the recognized certifying bodies.

Responsibilities

• Provides routine preventative and continuity of care to adult and/or pediatric patients; may include complete history and physical examinations.
• Orders diagnostic tests (laboratory, X-ray, ECG, etc.).
• Identifies and manages patients with unstable chronic diseases.
• Provides urgent care to acutely ill patients.
• Acute care planning for inpatients.
• Assesses, diagnoses, develops treatment plans and furnishes medications.
• Counsels and educates patients and collaborates with the healthcare team.
• Consults with physicians on diagnoses and treatment of unstable and complex conditions.
• Documents medical records and adheres to patient privacy.
• Participates in staff meetings and quality improvement activities.
