Job summary

The Florida Department of Health in Bay County is seeking an OPS Licensed Practical Nurse to provide clinical nursing services in clinics and assist clinicians and health staff. This temporary position offers an hourly wage of $20 and requires LPN licensure.

The role includes vaccine management backup, patient assessments, immunizations, counseling, documentation, and collaboration with the health team. Candidates must be independent and able to work with children and handle basic duties.

Qualifications

• Must be an independent worker.
• Moderate computer skills to include Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time, lift minimum of 25 pounds, bend and climb one flight of steps.
• Must be able to work with children.

Responsibilities

• Provides practical nursing services to clients at the Florida Department of Health in Bay County and at other sites under the auspices of DOH Bay.
• Serves as the back-up to the VFC Coordinator, manages vaccine inventory and orders vaccine supplies.
• Interviews clients, collects health data, and records health histories; administers medications, treatments, and immunizations as required.
• Provides counseling/education to clients, parents, and guardians regarding immunizations, family planning, STDs and other public health issues; immunizes children and adults; may immunize off-site under supervision.
• Assists health support technicians with vital signs, screening procedures, diagnostic tests, and specimen collection.
• Documents assessment information in patient records and related reports; completes EARs, timesheets, leave and attendance reports.
• Assists with triage and other client services.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
