Job summary

San Bernardino County is recruiting Laboratory Assistants to set up and assist with routine laboratory tests for disease treatment and diagnosis, and to provide essential data for environmental health decisions.

Duties include receiving and labeling clinical specimens (stool, blood, urine, sputum), data entry in LIS, preparing samples, media, reagents, and slides, and staining for examinations. Positions may be assigned to DPH or ARMC with multiple locations.

Qualifications

• Eight (8) semester units of biology or chemistry coursework from an accredited college.
• Six months of full-time lab specimen handling experience; biology degree or CPT license encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Set up and assist with routine laboratory tests.
• Receive and label clinical specimens (stool, blood, urine, sputum).
• Data entry in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Prepare culture media, reagents, and sterile solutions; stain and prepare slides.

Education

Eight (8) semester units of completed college coursework in biology or chemistry

Six (6) months of full-time experience receiving, preparing, and processing specimens for tests and analysis in a laboratory
