Job summary

The Arizona Department of Health Services is seeking a Public Health Scientist Associate to conduct laboratory analyses on newborn dried blood spots to identify metabolic disorders. The role includes molecular, biochemical testing, quality control, record-keeping, and client consultation in a clinical laboratory setting.

You will maintain reagents, materials, and instrument stocks, support the lab during public emergencies, and ensure adherence to CLIA standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a biological or clinical laboratory science.

Responsibilities

• Performs specialized hematological, molecular biological, and biochemical testing procedures on dried blood spots.
• Works with potentially infectious materials and hazardous substances.
• Maintains quality control, records results and reports.
• Performs preventive maintenance on laboratory instruments and orders supplies.
• Provides consultation to clients and other laboratorians; supports laboratory in emergencies.
