Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree with 30 hours in basic or natural science.

• Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
• Must pass National or Texas Registered Sanitarian exam within 18 months of hire.
• Must be able to work evenings and weekends and be on-call for emergencies 24 hours a day.
• Valid Texas Driver's License.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Aufgaben

• Inspect, investigate, report, and enforce health laws governing food establishments, public nuisances, on-site sewage systems and/or public pools.
• Determine and enforce compliance with state statutes, county regulations and other applicable laws.
• Investigate and take action on citizen complaints regarding food establishments, nuisances, on-site sewage systems and/or pools.
• Issue, deny or suspend retail food establishment permits administered through the Department.
• Investigate recalls and foodborne illness cases, emergencies, and temporary permits; assist with illegal operators.
• Provide technical consultations and interpretations to permit holders, staff and the public.
• Maintain current and accurate reports as required.
• Advise property owners and operators of conditions and violations and follow protocols to correct them.
• Issue notices of violations or citations and represent the department in court if needed.
• Complete and document work per policy using computers and reports.
• Be on call to respond to emergencies when scheduled and participate in emergency management during a local state of disaster.
