Job summary

Fort Bend County seeks a seasoned supervisor to lead the Environmental Health Department's Food Service, On Site Sewage Facility, and General Nuisance programs. This role plans, directs staff, reviews plans, conducts inspections, and ensures compliance with state rules.

The position requires a Bachelor's in Science, 4 years of supervisory experience in public health, and strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Science from an accredited university; 31 semester hours of natural sciences.
• 4 years of supervisory experience in environmental/public health.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Broad familiarity with Texas Food Establishment rules and 30 TAC Ch. 285.
• Registered Sanitarian; TCEQ DR for On-Site Sewage Facilities; Pool Operator certification or to be obtained within specified months.

Responsibilities

• Trains and supervises staff across Food Service, On Site Sewage Facility, and General Nuisance programs.
• Reviews work for quality control; assigns tasks; approves time off; conducts appraisals; handles grievances.
• Reviews blueprints and designs for new/renovated food service establishments; conducts plan reviews.
• Performs pre-opening inspections; submits reports on violations; conducts routine and renewal inspections.
• Coordinates on-site sewage facility plan reviews and inspections; schedules inspections between installers and staff.
• Liaises with Public Infrastructure Steering Committee and other county departments; maintains permitting forms and website.
