Southern Nevada Health District is seeking Public Health Informatics Scientist to apply informatics principles to design, use, and manage information systems for public health and epidemiologic reporting. The role supports data analytics and interoperability to improve population health within the SNHD Informatics Department.

Two vacancies will be filled from an eligibility list for up to four months. Applicants must hold a related bachelor's degree and have 2 years of health informatics

Job description

The Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) announces an examination process to create an eligibility list to fill two (2) vacancy for the classification of Public Health Informatics Scientist in the Informatics Department. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to four (4) months.

Responsible for applying informatics principles and methods to ensure effective design, use, and management of information systems for public health, clinical care, disease surveillance and epidemiological reporting of Southern Nevada Health District's (District) data analytics activities to improve population health and promote public health data interoperability.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course study in public health informatics, computer science, public health, data science, or closely related field and two (2) years of professional health informatics and analysis experience; OR an equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience.
Certificates, Licenses or Certificates:
  • Some positions may require specialized skills, experience, certification, license, or other requirements which will be identified by the hiring authority at time of recruitment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in SQL to write optimized queries
  • Knowledge and experience with programming langauges
