Job summary

Jefferson County Public Health is seeking a Harm Reduction Specialist to administer non-clinical testing and resources for HIV, HCV, and other STIs. The role supports syringe services, education, street outreach, and trauma-informed harm reduction, with a emphasis on engaging people who use drugs and connecting them to care and resources.

The ideal candidate has public health experience, strong communication, and the ability to collaborate with diverse communities.

Qualifications

• Experience in STI prevention and/or sexual health preferred.
• Knowledge of harm reduction activities including syringe access, street outreach, health education and resource navigation.
• Experience with data collection and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct service delivery using a person-centered harm reduction approach.
• Assist with screening, education and referrals for HIV/HCV/STIs.
• Administer testing for HIV/HCV/STIs at fixed sites and outreach locations.
• Offer counseling for test results and link to care or prevention services.
• Educate on overdose prevention and distribute naloxone.
• Work on street outreach with homeless populations.
• Provide information and referrals to community resources.
• Participate in program meetings and contribute to evaluation and quality improvement.
• Engage in agency or community workgroups as needed.
