Job summary

Brunswick County Environmental Health Services seeks an Environmental Health Specialist to protect public health by enforcing local, state, and federal environmental health laws. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with EHAC accreditation or public health degree + 1 year environmental health practice
• Bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in sciences and 1 year environmental health practice
• Equivalent education, training and experience that provides required knowledge and abilities

Responsibilities

• Inspect food service, lodging, and other facilities to ensure sanitation and safety standards
• Review plans and applications, issue permits and pursue enforcement when needed
• Investigate complaints and foodborne illness reports; document findings and corrective actions
• Provide education and consultation to the public and regulated establishments
• Work in the community and respond to emergencies as required
