Job summary

Louisville Metro Government seeks an experienced Public Health Administrator to direct community health service programs within the Environmental division. The role will lead staff, manage budgets, and coordinate cross‑agency efforts to improve public health outcomes.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a public health or related field and at least three years of relevant experience, including one year in supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Community Health, Health Administration, Public Policy, Public Administration, or related discipline.
• Three years of community or public health experience, including one year in supervision/management.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
• Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
• Assists in budget preparation and monitors and controls expenditures.
• Represents the department to the public to coordinate, explain and discuss programs and services.
• Assesses client needs, collects statistical data, analyzes budget and productivity data, evaluates staff needs and available resources, conducts trend analysis, and prepares comprehensive reports concerning program or project operations and services.
• Develops and implements policies and procedures to comply with federal, state, and local laws, programmatic guidelines, professional standards, theories, and regulations.
