Job summary

Summit County Public Health in Akron, OH seeks a full-time Public Health Aide to support the WIC program and provide high-quality client service. This role operates under the Dietitian Supervisor and collaborates with staff to ensure accurate records and policy compliance.

The Public Health Aide will assist with participant intake, data collection, charting, and scheduling, contributing to effective clinic flow and community health outcomes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate's degree is preferred.
• Minimum of one year of office support or medical assistant-related work experience.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license, automobile availability, and liability insurance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Google Workspace tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide participant reception, data collection, and data processing to ensure efficient clinic flow.
• Maintain and organize files, forms, and other related documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with program policies.
• Perform basic clinical support services, including obtaining heights, weights, and hemoglobin measurements per Ohio WIC Policy & Procedure Manual.
• Screen and process participant applications for eligibility based on income, residency, category, physical presence, and identity; assist participants with completion of forms if needed.
• Issue WIC benefits, schedule appointments, and assist participants in completing necessary forms.
• Explain the WIC program, rights, responsibilities, and WIC Nutrition Card use during certification and recertification appointments.
