Job summary

City of Shreveport is seeking a grounds maintenance worker to care for public rights-of-way, parks, and city properties. Duties include mowing, pruning, watering, spraying, fertilizing and litter removal using a variety of tools and equipment.

You may also lead a crew in the absence of a crew leader and assist with loading/unloading of vehicles. Responsibilities extend to painting, cleaning or repairing structures and equipment as needed, and there is local travel to locations within the city.

Qualifications

• One year experience in related work.
• Ability and willingness to follow instructions and perform assigned tasks.
• Must have valid state driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Use tools to weed, prune, water, spray, fertilize, plant, remove litter and mow in public rights-of-way, golf courses and city parks.
• Assist and direct loading and unloading of vehicles with tools and supplies.
• May be required to paint, clean or repair structures, grounds or equipment.
• May operate heavy equipment if trained and qualified.
• May be placed in charge of a crew in the absence of crew leader.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
