Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Architect to design and deliver public infrastructure and community facilities in Upington, Northern Cape. You will work with government bodies, stakeholders, and engineers to enhance public spaces and residents’ quality of life.

Ideal candidates hold a B.Arch, SACAP registration, 5+ years in public projects, and proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit. Strong communication and independent project management are essential; hybrid onsite/remote work is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) degree or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of professional architectural experience focusing on public/community projects.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and related software.
• Knowledge of South African building codes and procurement processes.
• Registered SACAP architect with ongoing professional practice.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design of public infrastructure and community facilities, from conceptualization to completion.
• Develop functional, accessible, and aesthetically pleasing designs for diverse user groups.
• Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
• Coordinate with engineering disciplines and consultants.
• Manage timelines, budgets, and stakeholder expectations.
• Ensure designs comply with South African building codes and procurement regulations.
• Engage with communities and authorities to gather input and secure project buy-in.
• Conduct site visits and provide construction administration services.
