Job summary

LeoForce in Phoenix, Arizona is seeking a skilled attorney to join our civil defense team, focusing on public entities. The ideal candidate will handle government liability matters and civil rights cases across Arizona, bringing at least three years of relevant experience.

The role involves defending municipalities, school districts, and other public agencies, managing cases from pleadings through trial, and advising clients on risk and compliance while maintaining strong research and writing

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Active Arizona State Bar membership in good standing.
• At least three years of civil litigation experience, preferably in public entity defense or governmental liability.
• Strong analytical and writing skills with solid research abilities.
• Experience managing multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Prior courtroom or deposition experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Represent public entities and employees in civil rights, tort defense, premises liability, and employment disputes.
• Manage cases from inception to resolution including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motions, settlements, and trial prep.
• Provide risk management guidance to public clients on pre-litigation matters and compliance.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and co-counsel at all stages.
• Participate in mediations, arbitrations, and court hearings.
• Stay current on Arizona public entity law and related federal statutes.

Job Details

We are seeking a skilled attorney to join our team focusing on the defense of public entities. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience handling matters related to governmental liability, public entity defense, or general civil litigation. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex cases involving municipalities, school districts, and other public agencies across Arizona.

Responsibilities

• Represent public entities and their employees in a wide range of matters, including civil rights claims, tort defense, premises liability, and employment‑related disputes
• Handle cases from inception through resolution, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation
• Provide risk management guidance and counsel to public clients on pre‑litigation matters and compliance issues
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and co‑counsel throughout all stages of litigation
• Participate in mediations, arbitrations, and court hearings
• Stay current on developments in Arizona public entity law and related federal statutes

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
• Active and good standing membership with the Arizona State Bar
• Minimum of three years of experience in civil litigation, preferably with a focus on public entity defense or governmental liability
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with excellent research and writing skills
• Comfortable managing multiple cases and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
• Prior courtroom or deposition experience strongly preferred
