Job summary

The City of Bismarck is seeking an Engagement Officer to disseminate public information across the website, social media, and other platforms. You will align communications with the city’s values, goals and mission, informing residents, the Board of Commissioners, staff, partners and visitors.

Responsibilities include developing campaigns, monitoring engagement, coordinating with media, and supporting emergency communications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in communications or related field required.
• Experience in public information and government communications preferred.
• Ability to develop and manage content across websites and social media.
• Strong writing, editing, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies, schedules, and campaigns.
• Monitor, listen to, and respond to user comments and messages.
• Assist in the management of social media and website content.
• Serve as liaison between City of Bismarck and news media.
• Provide support during emergencies to produce timely communications.
• Track KPIs, data summaries and analyze data to promote projects.
• Prepare and edit communications, documents and presentations.
• Knowledge of crisis communication strategies.
• Maintain working relationships with professionals; attend meetings.
