This full-time Public Defender Trial Attorney role is based in Gladstone and focuses on zealous advocacy across all phases of criminal matters in Missouri. You will build client relationships, conduct thorough case investigations, and appear in court for scheduled dockets.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and advocacy skills.
• Licensed to practice law in Missouri, awaiting bar results, or transferring bar license.
• Willingness to work in varied settings and adapt as necessary.
• Commitment to criminal defense and serving indigent clients.

Responsibilities

• Advocate for clients and develop professional relationships through meetings and visits.
• Conduct investigations, interview clients, witnesses, and experts, and review reports for defense strategy.
• Keep clients informed about investigations, negotiations, and court rulings.
• Litigate all aspects of cases through disposition at the trial court level.
• Prepare legal documents including motions, pleadings, and briefs for hearings and trials.
