The Missouri Public Defender System (MSPD) is seeking a Public Defender Trial Attorney to provide high-quality representation for indigent clients across Missouri. You will handle criminal matters from start to finish, in coordination with district offices throughout the state.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in Missouri, awaiting bar results, or transferring bar license from another state.
• Strong communication and advocacy skills.

Responsibilities

• Advocate for clients and ensure zealous representation.
• Develop professional relationships with clients via calls, meetings, and visits.
• Conduct thorough investigations, interviewing clients, witnesses, and experts.
• Review law enforcement reports and discovery to build a solid defense.
• Attend regularly scheduled court dockets and all appearances related to the caseload.
• Prepare motions, pleadings, and briefs for hearings, trials, and legal proceedings.
• Keep clients informed about investigations, negotiations, and court rulings.
