Job summary

The Office of the Colorado State Public Defender seeks a Paralegal to support regional trial offices in handling criminal defense work. You will organize discovery, prepare trial notebooks, and assist attorneys with motions, transcripts, and case files.

You will summarize discovery, manage documents, coordinate with the defense team, and maintain client confidentiality in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Paralegal work or legal support experience preferred.
• Knowledge of criminal procedures and court processes beneficial.
• Ability to handle confidential information and client privilege.

Responsibilities

• Manage and organize discovery materials and convert electronic files to PDF.
• Build trial notebooks with bookmarks and indexes for attorneys.
• Review and summarize discovery, transcripts, and witness interviews.
• Draft routine motions, briefs, and memoranda under attorney guidance.
• Track case status and key deadlines to ensure timely filings.
• Provide trial support, including witness tracking and exhibit management.
