Job summary

Pinal County, located in Arizona, seeks an attorney to perform professional legal research and defense work in the Public Defender's Office. You will conduct hearings, negotiate pleas, interview witnesses, and handle trials under supervision.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Accredited Law School.
• Meet the requirements of Supreme Court of Arizona Rule 39.
• Arizona Bar Exam pending.
• Knowledge of Public Defender policies, procedures, organization, and operations.

Responsibilities

• Represent the Public Defender's office in defense and resolution of criminal cases.
• Assist in defense of criminal and civil cases; review legal documents and analyze facts.
• Evaluate low level felony cases and all classes of misdemeanor cases.
• Review evidence, interview witnesses, prepare pre-trial memoranda, select juries, and examine witnesses.
• Appear in court and conduct hearings; subpoena witnesses and manage documents.
• Manage assigned legal cases and coordinate with the Division Director and Defender Attorney.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards.
• Perform other related duties as required.
