City of Melissa is seeking a Code Compliance Officer to inspect and enforce city, county, and state codes related to environmental hazards on properties. The role requires effective communication, the ability to handle difficult interactions, and a commitment to educating the public.

Salary ranges from 50,000 to 55,764 USD, DOQ, for a full-time, non-exempt position with hours Monday–Thursday 7:30 AM–5:30 PM and Friday 7:30 AM–11:30 AM.

Qualificações

• Education and experience: High School Diploma or GED and 2 years code compliance experience, or equivalent.
• Must have completed TEEX Basic Code Enforcement course and be certified, or ability to obtain within 18 months.
• Must possess a valid Class C Texas driver’s license prior to employment.
• Pre-employment drug screening and criminal history background check required.
• Must be able to work overtime as needed.

Responsabilidades

• Monitor premises and activities to ensure compliance with the municipal code.
• Investigate alleged violations of city ordinances and state laws related to hazards and nuisances.
• Coordinate duties with other City departments and outside agencies involved in code compliance.
• Secure and board up abandoned/condemned properties and unfenced pools.
• Prepare detailed records and reports for potential prosecution in court.
