Job summary

NorthWest Senior and Disability Services (NWSDS) in Warrenton, OR seeks an Eligibility Specialist to determine eligibility for benefit programs and support ongoing enrollment with professionalism and respect. Requires a minimum of four years of education/experience, a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and language proficiency testing. Driving may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Social Sciences, Human Services, or closely related field or four years of relevant public service experience.
• Experience interpreting and applying program rules or policies; determining eligibility and conducting intake interviews.
• Successful completion of a language proficiency test.

Responsibilities

• Interview individuals by phone or in person to determine eligibility for financial, medical, and SNAP programs.
• Review applications, verify documentation, and apply program rules to determine eligibility.
• Maintain accurate consumer records and process forms and changes in a timely manner.
• Conduct annual eligibility reviews and communicate re-determination requirements.
• Assist consumers with ongoing benefit maintenance and respond to questions.
• Coordinate with community partners and agencies such as DHS, Oregon Health Authority, SSA, and providers.
• Attend hearings or provide testimony as needed regarding eligibility.
• Support person-centered service and explain resources clearly.
• Follow agency policies, confidentiality, and mandatory reporting obligations.
