Job summary

Auditor Of State in Ohio seeks an Assistant Auditor 1 to join a small audit team, performing financial statement testing and controls assessments on government clients. You will travel to audit sites and contribute to reports under guidance, leveraging accounting education and/or experience.

You'll work in a structured environment with timelines, collaborate across staff, and develop professional skills toward CPA or governance experience. AOS offers solid benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or university (Accounting preferred).
• 16 semester hours accounting or related field beyond high school.
• Three years’ accounting or related field experience.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products preferred; travel to audit sites.

Responsibilities

• Develop knowledge of auditing techniques and state fiscal practices.
• Contribute to audit team and communicate methods to the lead auditor.
• Take on increasing responsibility with controlled assignments.
• Research agencies being audited and review relevant statutes.
• Travel to audit locations and gather audit evidence.
• Prepare audit workpapers and draft preliminary findings.
