Job summary

The City of Flagstaff seeks an experienced professional to lead planning, development and implementation of complex public art and beautification projects, from concept through installation. You will coordinate with artists, consultants and stakeholders, serving as a key liaison to commissions, City Council and the public.

Responsibilities include managing scopes, budgets and milestones, delivering reports and presentations, and conducting community outreach.

Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of experience in program coordination, planning, and/or project management.
  • Valid driver's license.

Job Summary

The City is seeking a collaborative and experienced professional to lead the planning, development, and implementation of complex public art and beautification projects that enhance the community’s character and quality of life. This position manages projects from concept through installation, coordinates with artists, consultants, and stakeholders, and serves as a key liaison to advisory commissions, City Council, and the public.

Responsibilities
  • Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Develops beautification, arts and sciences programs or projects of various scales.
  • Coordinates assignments including scheduling, resource coordination, task management, and client communication.
  • Organizes and conducts informal and formal community outreach efforts.
  • Collaborates with and provides technical assistance to internal and external agencies.
  • Develops and delivers progress reports, proposals, requirement documentation, and presentations.
  • Contributes to the review of various development applications including plats, permits, site plans, and building plans.
  • Hands on data collection, data analysis, concept generation, technical development, documentation, and implementation.
  • Manages day‑to‑day contracted operational aspects of the completion of the assignment.
  • Develops success strategies; manages scope; selects and engages consultants; tracks project milestones and deliverables, quality control, budget management, record keeping, problem identification and resolution; and keeps supervisor appraised of project status.
  • Actively identifies and conducts outreach to stakeholders and provides stakeholder opinions; builds, develops, and grows relationships that contribute to the success of assignments, the program, the division, and the City.
  • Arranges, attends, presents and/or conducts community meetings.
  • Manages marketing for the beautification, arts and sciences program.
  • Collaborates on compliance needs, regulatory functions, and engagement of stakeholders. Maintains records and prepares reports and correspondence.
  • Assemble and analyze information, presentations, and reports for City Council, management, and staff.
  • Reviews proposals and provides knowledgeable expert opinion.
  • Develops agendas, prepares applications, provides technical reports, attends meetings, and communicates between Commissions and management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in public art, architecture, heritage preservation, landscape architecture, planning, urban design, art history, project management or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in program coordination, planning, and/or project management.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Any combination of relevant education and relevant experience may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis. Minimum requirements such as driver’s license may not be substituted and are required at time of hire.

  • Public Art Project Management.
Other Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Must possess, or obtain upon employment, a valid Arizona driver’s license.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity.
