Nueces County is seeking a Public Information Officer to serve as the primary steward of accurate information sharing with regional media and the public. The role leads public affairs programs, drafts releases, and coordinates media inquiries for the Commissioners Court.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with Master’s preferred from an accredited college or university.
• Six (6) years of strategic communications/media relations/public information experience (or equivalent combination).
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents; write speeches and articles; speak before groups.

Responsibilities

• Communicate critical information to the public.
• Maintain county digital channels and editorial calendars.
• Prepare and distribute press releases to media outlets.
• Develop social media plans for the County Commissioners Court.
• Respond to media inquiries and constituent information requests.
• Act as the face of Nueces County as needed.
• Coordinate public affairs plans for events and crises.
• Supervise and manage multiple assignments under tight timelines.
