Job summary

Parkside Health and Rehabilitation Center seeks a caring Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) for a part-time and PRN role in a Skilled Nursing Facility in DeLand, FL. Prior PTA experience is welcome but not required as we value empathy and a willingness to learn.

You will assist with mobility, gait training, transfers, and therapeutic exercises, under licensed PT supervision, to help residents regain independence.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited PTA program.
• Current Florida PTA license or certification.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with PTs, nursing staff and care teams.
• Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.
• Basic understanding of rehabilitation principles and SNF guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
• Assist residents with mobility training, gait training, transfers and strengthening exercises.
• Implement individualized therapy treatment plans according to resident needs.
• Monitor resident progress and document outcomes accurately and timely.
• Provide education and support to residents and their families regarding home exercise programs.
• Maintain a safe and clean therapy environment, ensuring equipment is used appropriately.
• Collaborate with nursing staff, therapy teams, and interdisciplinary teams to support overall care plans.
• Encourage resident participation and promote independence in daily functional activities.
