Research Group and Role

The Siminoff Research Group for Informed Healthcare Decision Making and Effective Communication in the College of Public Health is seeking a part-time research assistant (RA). The RA will assist the principal investigator with research tasks and support projects, including a study on organ donation among Black Americans. Responsibilities include participant recruitment, organizing, transcribing, and managing interview and survey data. Experience in wet labs is NOT relevant. The position may offer a hybrid work format, requiring 15-20 hours per week.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum bachelor’s degree in public health, social sciences, or health-related fields, with at least six months of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Undergraduate research experience is also acceptable. Experience in wet labs is NOT pertinent.

Required Skills and Abilities
  • Experience with social/behavioral studies involving interviews, surveys, and observations
  • Experience recruiting hard-to-reach populations
  • Transcribing and de-identifying audio recordings
  • Handling sensitive participant data
  • Knowledge of mixed methods research
  • Data entry skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office, online data platforms (REDCap, Qualtrics), and academic software (Zotero, PubMed)
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and communicate effectively
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Attention to detail and knowledge of medical terminology
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with data collection and analysis software
  • Familiarity with search engines, databases, online training platforms, and health disparities
Additional Requirements

This position requires a background check and is grant-funded. The work arrangement is hybrid, at the discretion of Temple University and the department.
