The Siminoff Research Group in the College of Public Health seeks a part-time research assistant (RA) to support research tasks and projects, including a study on organ donation among Black Americans. Responsibilities include recruiting participants, organizing, transcribing, and managing interview and survey data. Experience in wet labs is NOT relevant. A hybrid work format may be available, with 15-20 hours/week required.

Essential Functions
  1. Recruitment of study participants
  2. Transcribing audio-recorded interviews
  3. Data entry
  4. Literature searches
  5. Document editing and preparation
  6. Assisting with manuscripts for publication
  7. Administrative tasks
  8. Maintaining study files
  9. Performing other duties as assigned

Required Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in public health, social sciences, or related fields, plus at least six months of relevant experience. Equivalent education and experience may be considered. Undergraduate research experience is also valued. Experience in wet labs is NOT pertinent.

Required Skills and Abilities
  • Experience with social/behavioral studies involving interviews, surveys, and observations
  • Experience recruiting hard-to-reach populations
  • Transcribing and de-identifying audio interviews
  • Handling sensitive participant data
  • Knowledge of mixed methods research
  • Data entry skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Teams, Word, Excel)
  • Familiarity with online data platforms (REDCap, Qualtrics)
  • Proficiency with academic search engines (PubMed)
  • Reference management software (Zotero)
  • Ability to work independently and multitask
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail and meeting deadlines
  • Experience with medical terminology is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with data collection methods
  • Qualitative and quantitative data analysis skills
  • Familiarity with search engines and databases
  • Experience with online training platforms
  • Knowledge of health disparities
