Job summary

Wentworth-Douglas Hospital is seeking a Part-time Phlebotomist for 20 hours per week. Shifts are 4am–8am on weekdays with every 3rd weekend rotation. The role involves collecting and processing blood specimens, with training and supervision provided as needed.

Ideal candidates will have 1–2 years of phlebotomy experience, strong communication skills, and a commitment to patient privacy and service excellence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of phlebotomy course preferred.
• Experience in phlebotomy 1-2 years required.

Responsibilities

• Obtains quality blood samples from patients for laboratory testing.
• Ensures accurate patient identification, proper labeling, processing and transportation of specimens.
• May assist in patient recovery and rapid response to emergencies in inpatient settings.
• Communicates effectively with patients and care teams to ensure high patient satisfaction.
• Troubleshoots and resolves specimen, order and operational issues within the area.
• Provides training and education to new staff and students.
• Handles sharps and biohazardous materials per regulatory requirements.
