Duties and Responsibilities:
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and government regulations.
- Meet or exceed all applicable management planning guidelines.
- Treat all co-workers with fairness, dignity, and respect.
- Develop product knowledge in all areas of the meat department, including cooking procedures.
- Make price changes and maintain correct price books and scales as directed.
- Assist in special projects and perform other functions as assigned by supervisor.
- Assist in training other associates when assigned.
- Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance at all times; comply with company personal appearance policy.
- Maintain solid communication within the department and organization.
- Support company safety standards; communicate equipment repairs or maintenance needs; keep work area free of debris and hazards.
- Observe and maintain sanitation and food safety standards.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Good interpersonal skills and team-oriented attitude.
- Must meet minimum age requirements.
- Effective customer service and communication skills.
- Successful experience as a meat associate or previous meat cutting experience.
- Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
Physical Requirements:
- Lift cases or packages weighing 1-40 lbs. frequently; up to 100 lbs. on occasion.
- Meet established volume activity standards.
- Stand or walk 100% while working in temperatures of approximately 45°F.
- Perform repetitive grasping, twisting, reaching, and hand/arm motions.
- Use hands to feel objects and operate tools for meat preparation.
- Handle substances related to cleaning, packaging, and meat products.
- Frequent bending.
Preferred Requirements:
- Complete meat cutting training, including scraping, traying, cubing, grinding, and cutting meats.
- Perform meat associate responsibilities as directed.
- Provide outstanding customer service and assist customers in product selection.
- Identify, wrap, price, and weigh meat products per standard procedures.
- Stock cases using proper rotation procedures.
- Receive, code, rotate, and store meat deliveries.
- Wash, rinse, sanitize cases and equipment, including disassembly and reassembly.
- Meet physical requirements of the position, with or without accommodations.
Salary range: $18.95 - $27.25 hourly.
