Job summary

The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District is seeking a Part-Time Instructor for Interior Design at Chabot College for Spring Semester 2027.

The candidate will teach Interior Design courses including hand drafting, AutoCAD, history of interiors, lighting fundamentals, kitchen and bath design, and materials and resources.

Responsibilities include delivering courses, assisting in curriculum revisions, and meeting with students during scheduled office and lab hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher and 2 years of professional experience, or an associate degree and 6 years of professional experience.
• Experience developing and teaching Interior Design curricula.
• Ability to promote equity-minded practices in the classroom and support diverse student populations.

Job Summary

The Instructor, Interior Design will beexpected to provide instruction in the following areas:

• Hand drafting for InteriorDesign
• AutoCAD (digital drafting)
• History of Interiors andFurnishings
• Fundamental of Lighting
• Kitchen and Bath Design
• Materials andResources

Duties and Responsibilities

• 1.Teach courses offered in the InteriorDesign curriculum, including hand drafting, digital drafting, presentation and graphics courses;
• 2. Assist in curriculum revisions andnew course development;
• 3. Consult with students during regularly scheduled office and lab hours.

Minimum Qualifications

Any Bachelor's degree(s) or higher and twoyears of professional experience, or any associate degree and sixyears of professional experience.

Evidence of understanding of andresponsiveness to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural,disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, racial and ethnicbackgrounds of community college students, as these factors relateto the need for equity-minded practices within theclassroom.

Desirable Qualifications

• 1.Have a professional level of InteriorDesign competence and successful experience inteaching Interior Design, including both digital and handdrafting at the college level;
• 2.Mastery level knowledge of InteriorDesign discipline courses;
• 3.Knowledge of successful teachingtechniques that engage students in their ownlearning,motivate students to develop higher order thinkingskills and ensure consistent and appropriatemonitoring ofstudent progress.
