Job summary

Chester County Intermediate Unit seeks foreign language interpreters to support educational settings. Responsibilities include interpreting at IEP meetings, evaluations, and parent conferences, with travel between campuses and districts via on-site and Zoom sessions.

Fluency in Spanish is required and experience in educational interpretation is strongly preferred. Candidates must meet clearance requirements and be available for a flexible, on-call schedule up to 260 days per year.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Fluency in Spanish required.
• Experience with educational interpretation strongly preferred.
• Original criminal history clearance and related PA/federal clearances required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide interpretation in educational settings for IEP meetings.
• Assist with evaluations and in-home or classroom visits.
• Interpret during disciplinary hearings and parent–teacher conferences.
• Support open houses and state assessments (PSSA/Keystone Exams).
• Work schedule up to 260 days/year, on-call and flexible hours.
• Provide travel to and from meeting locations as needed.
• Coordinate with schools across IU Countywide campuses and beyond.

Job description

At the present time, vacancies for Foreign Language Interpreter positions for all languages exist within the Student Services Division of the Chester County Intermediate Unit. At this time, the CCIU is searching for candidates fluent in Nepali, Swahili & Portuguese.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required
• Fluency in Spanish required
• Experience with educational interpretation strongly preferred
• Original criminal history clearance, child abuse clearance and FBI fingerprint clearance (dated within the year), clearance as an MA provider by the Commonwealth of PA and federal government (conducted by CCIU upon hire)

Duties & Responsibilities

CCIU foreign language interpreters provide interpretation in educational settings, including, but not limited to:

• IEP meetings
• Evaluations
• In-home and classroom visits
• Disciplinary hearings
• Parent-teacher conferences
• Open houses
• PSSA/Keystone Exams

Schedule

• Up to 260 Days/year, 5 days per week, 3 hours/day
• Schedule will be as needed and on an on-call basis
• Flexible based on the hours candidates are available

Hourly Rate

Support, Band 12:$26.55/hour - $33.19/hr.

*Placement on salary scale determined based upon years of relevant experience*

*Compensation provided for travel to and from meeting locations*
