Job summary

Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) seeks part-time foreign language interpreters for all languages to support students in educational settings across the district. Duties include interpreting at evaluations, home visits, hearings, conferences, open houses and standardized exams.

On-call, flexible hours with up to 260 days/year and 3 hours per day. Fluency in Spanish is required, High School Diploma is mandatory; experience in educational interpretation is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Fluency in Spanish required.
• Experience with educational interpretation strongly preferred.
• Original criminal history clearance, child abuse clearance and FBI fingerprint clearance (dated within the year), clearance as an MA provider by the Commonwealth of PA and federal government (conducted by CCIU upon hire).

Responsibilities

• Interpreting in educational settings, including evaluations, home and classroom visits, disciplinary hearings, parent-teacher conferences, open houses, PSSA/Keystone Exams.

At the present time, vacancies for Foreign Language Interpreter positions for all languagesexist within the Student Services Division of the Chester County Intermediate Unit. At this time, the CCIU is searching for candidates fluent in Nepali, Swahili & Portuguese.

Qualifications

• Experience with educational interpretation strongly preferred

Duties & Responsibilities

CCIU foreign language interpreters provide interpretation in educational settings, including, but not limited to:

• Evaluations
• In-home and classroom visits
• Disciplinary hearings
• Parent-teacher conferences
• Open houses
• PSSA/Keystone Exams

Schedule

• Up to 260 Days/year, 5 days per week, 3 hours/day
• Schedule will be as needed and on an on-call basis
• Flexible based on the hours candidates are available

Hourly Rate

Support, Band 12:$26.55/hour - $33.19/hr.

*Placement on salary scale determined based upon years of relevant experience*

*Compensation provided for travel to and from meeting locations*
