Job summary

Aster Springs is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our clinical team in Glen Allen, VA. This part-time role focuses on safe medication management and comprehensive client evaluation.

You will conduct psychiatric and medical assessments, prescribe appropriate regimens, and document care, coordinating with the treatment team to support clients with substance use disorders.

Qualifications

• Board-eligible or board-certified NP licensed in VA.
• Experience with mental health PHP/IOP and/or psychiatric hospital settings preferred.
• Superior communication with patients, families, staff and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide detoxification medication regimens safely and effectively.
• Perform routine checks and medication monitoring for clients in services.
• Document clinical, medical, and psychiatric treatments and recommendations.
• Prescribe medications and assess efficacy of regimens.
• Pre-screen and admit clients by reviewing psych and medical records.

Relationships and Contacts

Within the organization: Establish and maintain productive working relationships with peers and accounting team members throughout Aster Springs and affiliated facilities.

Outside the organization: Establish and maintain productive working relationships with third party vendors, as necessary.

Position Responsibilities

• PT position
• Maintaining a safe and secure environment
• Help Clients by providing information, services, and assistance
• Prescribe Detoxification medication regimens that are safe, appropriate, and effective for clients with substance use disorder
• Routine checkups and Medication checks for clients in services
• Conducting follow up and evaluation of client physical and psychiatric conditions.
• Prescribe medications as necessary and check on the efficacy of medication regimen
• Document clinical, medical, and psychiatric treatments and recommendations
• Pre-screen and approve potential clients by reviewing psych and medical records for admission
• Order Lab work and UAs as needed
• Complete Psychiatric Evaluations for every admitting client
• Complete physical for every admitting client
• Make referrals to specialist as needed
• Order and administer Vivitrol as needed
• Consult with the treatment team
• Complete progress notes as needed
• Support Nursing staff.

Qualifications: Experience

• Board Eligible or Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner. All necessary requirements must be met in VA.
• Experience with mental health PHP/IOP and/or psychiatric hospital experience desired.
• Superior communication skills working with patients, family members, community stakeholders and staff.
• Performs duties independently, responsibly and with a high level of integrity
• A valid Driver's license and a generally clean driving record are required. Employees may be required to drive personal or company vehicles.
• State licensing DHS and DSS prohibit individuals with specific criminal charges, conducted byLivescanfingerprint checks. Exemptions offered.
