Qualifications

  • Must be forklift certified and able to operate related equipment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Minimum age 18.
  • Experience supervising hourly operations preferred.
  • Part‑time role: 25 hours/week.
  • Able to lift 50–100+ lbs.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide training, supervision, feedback, and discipline for hourly Operations team members.
  • Route City operation.
  • Manage the daily performance of the City Pickup and Delivery Operation for safety, performance, on‑time service, cost control, and claims prevention.
  • Ensure on‑time delivery service aligning with organizational goals; monitor pickups and deliveries.
  • Monitor Line Haul operation and dock performance; adjust staffing as needed.
  • Communicate with other departments to ensure successful operations.
  • Operate safely and professionally; report facility issues to Maintenance.
  • Comply with regulations and complete daily paperwork.

Position Summary

Part‑time Working Dock Supervisor at our Rock Island, IL terminal. Hours Monday‑Friday, 1100 am start, 25 hours per week. Pay is $26.50 per hour. Responsibilities include organizing the dock, providing paperwork for dockworkers, and overseeing loads to ensure trailers are loaded correctly. Must be forklift certified and expected to work the floor.

Responsibilities
  • Provide training, supervision, feedback, and discipline for hourly Operations team members
  • Route City operation
  • Manage the daily performance of the City Pickup and Delivery Operation for optimal safety, performance, on‑time service, cost control, and claim prevention
  • Ensure on‑time delivery service in accordance with the organizational goals by ensuring pick‑ups and deliveries are made timely, efficiently, and returns are kept to a minimum
  • Monitor Line Haul operation
  • Monitor Dock performance and efficiency and adjust manpower as needed
  • Solve problems regarding lost and missing freight
  • Communicate efficiently with other departments to ensure a successful operation
  • Work in a safe and professional manner so as to reduce personal risks and risk to fellow employees
  • Report all facility problems to the Facility Maintenance Department
  • Comply with federal, state, and company regulations
  • Process all paperwork daily associated with the execution of the job
  • Work in a positive, supportive, and cooperative way at all times
  • Perform other duties as needed
Qualifications
  • A minimum age of 18
  • High School completion or equivalent
  • Valid Driver License
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Ability to work any shift
  • Must have the knowledge and ability to perform all Operations jobs in the Terminal including Dock, Dispatch, Warehouse, and Routing
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Detail‑oriented, organized
  • Must meet all physical requirements
  • Must have certification in forklift safety and hazardous material handling
  • Ability to multi‑task and react to change productively

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
  • Visual acuity including regular use of items such as a computer screen or monitor
  • Lifting various types of materials will be required: cartons, bags, cylinders, boxes, crates, drums, pipe, bars, rugs, etc.
  • Common material handling tools will be used: forklifts, carts, dollies, banding machines, shrink wrap tubes, pallet jacks, and tow motors
  • Standing, walking, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, carrying, bending at the waist, reaching, and lifting both above and below waist level will be required
  • Must be physically capable of operating a forklift, pallet jack, load lock and two‑wheel handcart
  • Will be required to lift, set down, slide or move weight unassisted that could exceed 80 pounds
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. on a frequent basis and 100+ lbs. on an infrequent basis
  • Must be able to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Must have the ability to safely enter and exit trailers, vans, flatbeds, forklifts and tractors
  • Must have the ability to work around and operate motorized equipment
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job as specified in the job description
  • May be exposed to extreme hot or cold temperatures and dusty conditions in the dock environment; must be able to perform essential functions in these conditions
