Job summary

Dohrn Transfer Company is seeking a Part-Time Dock Supervisor to oversee operations at our Northlake, IL terminal. The role runs Monday–Friday, 4pm–9pm, totaling 25 hours per week, with a wage of $27.50 per hour.

Responsibilities include supervising the hourly Operations team, routing, ensuring on-time deliveries, and maintaining safety standards. Qualified candidates will have supervisory experience, a valid driver's license, and forklift/safety certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide training, supervision, feedback, and discipline for hourly Operations team members.
• Route City operation oversight.
• Manage daily performance of City Pickup and Delivery for safety, performance, on-time service, cost control, and claims prevention.
• Ensure on-time delivery by coordinating pick-ups and deliveries efficiently and minimizing returns.
• Monitor Line Haul and dock performance; adjust manpower as needed.
• Address lost/missing freight issues and communicate with other departments.
• Work safely and professionally to minimize risks to staff.
• Report facility problems to Maintenance and comply with regulations.
• Process daily paperwork for job execution and duties.
• Support a positive, cooperative work environment and perform other duties as needed.

We are seeking a Part-Time Dock Supervisor at our Northlake, Il terminal.

Hours: Monday-Friday, 4pm-9pm

25 hours per week

Wage: $27.50/hr

Responsibilities

• Provide training, supervision, feedback, and discipline for hourly Operations team members
• Route City operation
• Manage the daily performance of the City Pickup and Delivery Operation for optimal safety, performance, on-time Service, cost control, and claims prevention
• Ensure On-time Delivery service in accordance with the organizational goals by ensuring pick-ups and deliveries are made timely, efficiently, and returns are kept to a minimum
• Monitor Line Haul operation
• Monitor Dock performance and efficiency and adjust manpower as needed
• Solve problems regarding lost and missing freight
• Communicate efficiently with other departments to ensure a successful operation
• Work in a safe and professional manner so as to reduce personal risks and risk to fellow employees
• Report all facility problems to the Facility Maintenance Department
• Comply with federal, state, and company regulations
• Process all paperwork daily associated with the execution of the job
• Work in a positive, supportive, and cooperative way at all times
• Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications

• A minimum age of 18
• High School completion or equivalent
• Valid Driver License
• Supervisory experience required
• Ability to work any shift
• Must have the knowledge and ability to perform all Operations jobs in the Terminal including Dock, Dispatch, Warehouse, and Routing
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Visual Acuity including regular use of items including a computer screen or monitor
• Lifting various types of materials will be required: cartons, bags, cylinders, boxes, crates, drums, pipe, bars, rugs, etc
• Common material handling tools will be used: forklifts, carts, dollies, banding machines, shrink wrap tubes, pallet jacks, and tow motors
• Standing, walking, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, carrying, bending at the waist, reaching, and lifting both above and below waist level will be required
• Must be physically capable of operating a forklift, pallet jack, load lock and two-wheel handcart
• Will be required to lift up, set down, slide or move weight unassisted that could exceed 80 pounds
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. on a frequent basis and 100+ lbs. on an infrequent basis
• Must be able to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time
• Must have the ability to safely enter and exit trailers, vans, flatbeds, forklifts and tractors
• Must have the ability to work around and operate motorized equipment
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job as specified in the job description
• May be exposed to extreme hot or cold temperatures and dusty conditions in the dock environment; must be able to perform essential functions in these conditions
